Making new friends

Sometimes you send blogs out into the ether and wonder if anyone reads them ... but this week I met up with a fellow artist, Samantha Barnes, who saw my blog post on thisisyourkingdom about my December Open Studio. She very sweetly contacted me to ask if I'd like to meet up for lunch as it turns out we only live 4 miles apart!

Samantha was super nice and her work is lovely. I've included some of my favourites but her website will give you a much better idea of the breadth of her work: www.samanthabarnes.co.uk. Her subjects are predominantly people and animals but she also has a series of 'Londonisms' prints, her personal quirky take on underground signs (e.g. 'Rings Code' and 'Embonkment'!). She regularly runs workshops in Hampshire and if our lunch was anything to go by I think they'd be great fun. Her next one, 'Drawing into Painting', is on 25th February.
